I put a nice slight quartering in shot of this doe at 0900 this morning. I knew the hit was good, but didn't hear her crash in the overgrown clearcut she ran into, so waited the 30 minutes.
At the 30 minute mark I heard coyote yipping and howling. I couldn't find my arrow so went ahead and started on the blood trail. About 10 minutes later I saw movement in the heavy brush. Thought it was a deer but it was a pack of coyotes, obviously on the deer. I drew and almost lip called one out into the open, but they stayed put. I finally had to walk up on them and yell to get them to scatter. This is what they left for me. Total of 45 minutes from shot to discovery.



 
Man that sucks, they were quick too. I lost one to yotes overnight this year and that sucked but dang 45 minutes, I hate those yipping critters

Snake, this was Giles County. Figures.
I got the deer home quick (end of the street) and washed it out for a long time, trimming away the worst. They consumed almost all the ribs on that side, leaving the meat alone. I put it in a gamebag to keep the flies away. I've nicked a stomach before but this was a whole different story!
My processor said he would take care of it. I lost a little of the backstrap, a real small part of a tenderloin and the front of the hindquarter. He is confident the meat is still going to be okay.
I moved a game camera to the gut pile and went back this afternoon, but they hadn't touched it. Sat for a while with the electronic caller, but they weren't interested or not in the area.
 
Glad you are salvaging the meat. Heck I wouldn't have touched the tenderloins or hind quarters, but would have taken the straps, shoulder and neck

I have them howling outside right now. About 100 yards away
over the hill in front of the house.

I was wondering the same thing, but the processor is confident.
In the back of my mind I am worried about the smell permeating the meat.

I don't know how many there were, but obviously enough....There's a darn site fewer in that area now.... ;)
 
If a pack of yotes are on a deer in less than an hour, sounds like you need to have a yote kilin party. I had a piece of land like that about 4 years ago, between me and another guy we killed about 15.
