My opening day was a disaster and really bummed me out but I didn't let that keep me down. My Father was kind enough to carve out a few small fields on his property in an attempt for me to get some doves. We had no idea if it would work or not but he planted some sunflowers and millet and we'd just see how it went.
There weren't huge groups flying around, just a lot of singles and doubles, but what was fun was being able to sneak around from field to field and jump shoot them almost like quail hunting. I had to react quickly but I dropped some like this. I also did the sit and wait and they'd fly over the trees and I'd pick them off. I wound up with 13 doves in the fridge and can't wait to eat them. Of course, I missed plenty more so I got some shooting in this weekend.
Sadly my GoPro was malfunctioning all weekend or I'd have some awesome kill shots and could make a neat highlight video. I need to send it somewhere to get repaired. Life is good! Shoot straight and God bless!
