I Don't Understand It

I have not hunted for somewhere around 10 years. I now have two boys who have shown a a lot of interest in hunting. I own about 40 acres of land that I live on,mostly open fields. When the deer begin chasing they pass through my area quite a bit. Yesterday at around 130 my youngest son and I were watching two good bucks running a doe in my front yard. My son was excited to see these bucks chasing a doe like crazy. As we were watching them for sevreal minutes a truck pulled up and shot the smaller of the two from the road. I was furious as this deer was a three and a half year old deer that had been hanging around for the past couple of days, one that we decided that we would let my son shoot given the chance. We have several trail cam pics of him. This deer was going to be his first deer, given he showed up tomorrow morning. I don't understand why people are still doing this. He is heartbroken, hopefully the bigger one shows up tomorrow. We did call the county deputies out to work this case and they know who has done it. I am just fed up with these poachers who just kill to kill and leave deer laying just to shoot something. I was able to keep the deer so the meat won't go to waste. Just needed to vent. The way you stop this is get the folks doing arrested. I hear a lot of this and griping abut it and rightly so, But if we do not do all we could to get them caught, then we are part of the problem.

Thanks everyone. My son is fired up right now. We are watching the Outdoor Channel and he is talking nonstop about going out tmorrow.
This was reported and they know who shot the deer. Now it's just finding him and getting him arrested.

Good news!!!!!! Tonight my youngest son was able to go out hunting as my oldest son is sick. I was able to shoot a 10 point, my best deer ever. Better yet I shot the deer in the same area that I shot my first deer when I was younger.
My son is now a deer hunter for life, as he said that today was the best day of his life.
