Squirrel hunting will teach them a lot. I love hunting bushy tails with my boys. I have taught them to kill em, clean em, and cook em!!Taking my son hunting for his first time this year! Can't wait!

Hate to tell your Bud but LBL doesn't start this year till next Sat. same as state. Go to LBL 's web and check it.I'm ready too. My buds got a jump on them this weekend at LBL. The 6" of rain messed them up yesterday, but they thumped them pretty good today. The squirrels they killed were cutting hickories and traveling.
We thought so too when we read LBL's website few weeks back, but they had a typo and never took the time to correct it, even after we pointed it out to them that the H&T Guide had conflicting dates.Hate to tell your Bud but LBL doesn't start this year till next Sat. same as state. I am highly p---ed I had called LBL after this first came out and they stood by their date. Next I can't believe it wasn't reported on here that they had reported the date wrong by those who had also called them later. There was even a thread on here about it been the 28th. This is has been a bunch of BS by LBL.We thought so too when we read LBL's website few weeks back, but they had a typo and never took the time to correct it, even after we pointed it out to them that the H&T Guide had conflicting dates.
Based on the information we were told on the phone, LBL's website was wrong (imagine that), but the TWRA 2021/2022 Hunting & Trapping Guide (page 55) has correct date for LBL squirrel opener (8/21). We did our homework few weeks back when H&T Guide came out digitally. We called TWRA Region 1 office, spoke with local warden and he spoke with LBL (USDA) and they all confirmed to us LBL squirrel opened this past weekend like it has been for the last 30+ years (opens week earlier than statewide). Again, I pointed out to them that LBL website small game fact sheet was incorrect/misleading, but seems conveying accurate information is not a priority of theirs (LBL) these days. I'm convinced the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing at LBL these days, especially when it comes to hunting and conveying accurate information to the public about hunting opportunities there. They definitley need to get better alignment so they can speak with one voice, and accuracy, when conveying information to the public.
For sure!! IMO, you should not be surprised with LBL management these days. Just talked to another guy from west TN (Haywood County) that drove up to LBL Friday to buy his user permit at South Welcome Station and the lady sold it to him and then told him squirrel opener was the 28th, not this past weekend. He raised cane, asked for a refund etc, and then proceeded to drive back home (2 hours away), only to get a phone call from an LBL employee that informed him the lady at the south station had the wrong information and it indeed opened the 21st. He turned around and drove back up there to watch it rain all day Saturday. As you might imagine, his opinion of LBL staff is not all that high at the moment. He's been squirrel hunting up there for 30+ years as well. This is has been a bunch of BS by LBL.
Gutsy move!!I'm going to try to kill some with a tc encore 410 pistol
You can't imagine how this has made me feel. I truly wish it had been reported on here back when it was found out. It wasn't like it hadn't been posted that they had changed I also had a tradition of going opening day with good friends even went when I had cancer. I will be calling LBL and getting this from the horses mouth and probably telling them what I think of them. For sure!! IMO, you should not be surprised with LBL management these days.
