Anybody plant any of the loblolly/pitch pine hybrids available?

Not sure if this is what you're talking about but many (if not most) of the seedlings planted by timber companies and forestry departments these days are those genetically modified "supertrees." There are several nurseries throughout the south. My pine plantations are genetically modified and the difference between a planted pine and a natural regen pine is...well...it's no comparison.

It's simply amazing how they put on height and girth if the site index and growing conditions are good.

I have some loblolly x pitch coming from the Missouri dept of conservation this winter for the first layer of a screen I'm putting in on my new farm. No experience yet, just have heard a lot of good.

Haven't tried them. Any idea what their benefits are supposed to be over standard loblollies?
