hush puppy recipe

I made half decent ones on the 4th but didn't have a recipe. I know I used self rising cornmeal mix, eggs, water, salt, onion and garlic powder, maybe some Tony C's, jalapeños and cheddar cheese. They were good, I'll have to make them again and write down the ingredients.

I posted an identical thread a few years ago.
I used one Chaneylake posted and it was awesome.

There are hush puppies, and then there are Chaneylake's "Creamed Corn & Jalapeño" hush puppies. They're a religious experience.

I know how good they were when I made them by his recipe I can only imagine how they are when he does it.

I think this hush puppy recipe is the one Chaneylake posted sometime back:

1 1/2 C self rising corn meal
1 C self rising flour
1 15 oz can creamed corn
2 large eggs beaten
1/2 C fine chopped onion
3/4 to 1 C frozen corn kernals
2 T canned jalapeño peppers drained well
4 T sugar
1/4 t salt
1/4 t pepper

Mix flour and meal until blended then fold on remaining stuff.
Let stand at least 20 minutes in the frig.

Cook in 350 * oil until done.

It actually works out very well. You just hold the frog over the hot grease and you squeeze him and he squirts out the hush puppies one at a time.
