Huntstand question

I recently downloaded huntstand and have been giving it a try. I've been using GAia GPS, but it's not geared to hunting and I've found that when I had a marker, it's not always on the exact spot.

So far, huntstand looks pretty good. However, I'm unable to find a compass in the app. I'm sure I'm just overlooking it. I'm thinking it orients the displayed map with north at the top. However, if I'm not facing north and don't know where I am, especially in the dark, it's not going to be much use.

Can anyone advise me on what I'm missing?

It is the marker with the north. But if you hit the marker that brings the blue dot up of your exact location. You'll notice it has an arrow of which direction your are actually facing at that moment

Thx for the response and info. After you pointed it out, I see the arrow on the blue dot. Wow, that's subtle. I'm not seeing the first marker you mentioned.

You're not over looking it. I have the same screen and it's not there. If you simply need a compass for your phone there are apps. I use the compass app that defaults on my iPhone.

It's not that I need a compass. I have the same one you mentioned in "Utilities" on my phone and the Gaia GPS app that I've been using has one built in. I just can't imagine there's not one in Hunstand. If you're looking at a map and not familiar with the area, how would you know what's what? Especially in the dark. Maybe that's included in the paid version? I probably won't be finding out. :)

Is it that white arrow next to the time (9:39)? If not, try hitting what looks like a scope crosshairs on the right. That's where mine is when I hit that.

I had to take 2 fingers and twist the view and it shows up.

That ap saved my butt in late Oct this year at fort Campbell in area 50. I was not more than 250 yards from my car, but when I descended a hill into a ravine at almost dark, I got disoriented. I almost panicked. I have only been mislocated once in my life but that was midday and I had plenty of time to find my way out (20 years ago in Daniel Boone national forest in KY with nothing but printed google earth tops in hand).

This is one of the reasons that I'm done hunting in October. There was nothing but overhead green canopy and I couldn't see squat.

Thanks BG, the 2 finger twist did the trick. That's not very intuitive, but it definitely didn't make sense for there to be no compass.

I use huntstand but also have a separate compass app for backup. Its called Compass Galaxy.
