Wanna shoot the 125gr Sierras and use W296. Gun is a Ruger American Bolt gun that will be used in Ms in the woods mostly. Sierra says 18.3 gr of H110/296 is a max load. Any input is greatly appreciated
125 NBT sounds good, but the 125 Sierra ain't a bad choice either. SGKs and PHs do well on game but will prolly have a slightly lower bc than the NBTs, but under 200+ yards that won't matter
Should be very similar to the 7.62x39 load I use with a 125 grain Hornady spire point. It makes a good woods rifle and should be ok out to around 200 yards. I feel more confident myself within 150. My daughter shot a doe this year with it and it was a pass-thru shot behind the shoulder at 75 yards. Lots of blood and we found the deer about 75 or so yards away. Not a lot of blood shot or messed up meat as expected with such a medium velocity load.
I've had great success with the 125 NBT's. Perfect combination of expansion and penetration out to 200 yds or so. Just haven't used any sierras, so I can't comment on them.
