Hunting land size

If you had a choice of buying 100 acres of creek bottom farm land or 500 acres of ridge and hollow cut-over, for the same price in the same area and just for deer hunting, which would you choose?

For the same price?500 acres for me,more room to keep em on you,plus that cut over will have some killer browse.

That's a no-brainer: The 500 acres,
as I could get all the deer using the 100 acres to spend most of their days on my 500 acres.

But each situation is unique.
I might rather have only 50 acres bordering 5,000 acres that shoots mostly female deer and relatively few bucks. Sometimes what you border matters more than anything you do, or don't do, on your property.

Take for instance that private in-holding on President's Island WMA. I might rather have 50 acres there (just for my own personal hunting) than most 500-acre tracts else-where, even if that 50 acres cost about the same as that 500 acres of ridge & hollow land. Just depends. Each situation is different.

Ive been in that situation and decided on 350 acres with about 300 acres being 2 and 3 yr old cutover.

500 acres, mainly for the land value in the long run.

But the ridges will be a great place to hunt with the cutover.

I am in the minority. I would take the 100 in the bottoms.

not to the extream but I bought a 104 track that was same price as some 70-80 acre tracks. Its been cut harder, but also is more remote and borders biggers crop fields.
