When will the new guide be posted?

I was just told that the new printed hunting guides are in the process of being delivered to our offices. They should be at license agents, etc. in the very near future.

Tha HG pdf can be accessed through the TWRA app. It is not up on the website yet, but should be in the next few days.

If you for some reason can't access it, all of the seasons and the WMA hunts are in the Proclamations that have been available for over a month.

Yes, they are.

There are a few of us on here that are old enough to remember when we didn't have deer and turkey across the state. I think when I started in 1977, our statewide deer kill was around 25,000?, and our turkey kill was about 400. I'll never forget our Deer Project leader at the time, Larry Marcum (later Chief of Wildlife), telling my new recruit group that they had a new computer "model" that estimated that at some time in the future that TN would peak out with a kill of 75,000 deer. My immediate thought was that he had to be crazy that we would never kill that many deer in this state.

We all owe a major debt of gratitude to folks like those in the pictures that through trial and tribulation, and some hit and miss restoration, were able to restore a bunch of game animals in this state. Their ultimate success surpassed their wildest dreams.

Very true.

Right off hand, only thing I can think of that didn't work out was the pheasant stocking. I still wonder if that program's failure was more due to illegal killing of pheasant or the high Southern humidity making it hard for them to reproduce.

Sure did well with the turkey.

The WMA Proclamation says it is the same as the statewide season, archery only (and requires a free permit).

It was my understanding,as well,that at least part of it is shut down, but it is listed in the WMA regs.

I'd give Region II a call at 781-6622 to get the "particulars" on what the situation will be this fall.

Every time I click the link on the TWRA website for the guide, it says page not found. When I do a search, it comes back to the links that didn't work.

If you will go to the very bottom of the home TWRA page you will find a link for a pdf version of the 2014 Hunting Guide. I just pulled it up, and it is working.

The interactive version is not available yet, but should be in the coming days.
