Hunting Beds and swamps?

While going back to the truck today, I decided to take a walk by the creek and see if they are any signs. I found two great trails with scraps spread out through it and a lot of deer droppings, but it is so thick that I might get a 15 to 20 yard shot at the longest spot. I always hunted the food area close to the thickets, but with no sighting there and small deer signs. So the question is, do you think it will be a good ideal to hunt it and if so have any of you all done it with success?

I am def thinking about putting a cam there and let it sit for a few days.

I have a hunting area that encompasses a river system and swamp. On stand I may not see anything on the main portion of land on one side of the swamp where almost all hunting is done while on the other side of the water I see and hear chasing going on. The deer know. I ventured across this swamp and the sign looked like hogs had been in there. It's just really tough getting in there and getting a deer out would be a chore I don't know if I want to tackle. The edge of this swamp is really thick and marshy but I've jumped big bedded bucks on multiple occasions near the water's edge. Each time I've done so they immediately headed across the water to the safety of the other side where no one can get to them. The sight distance for shooting at any of these bucks in this area can be measured in feet. If you can set up on them before they bed you're apt to get a shot at one. If you try this I'd advise a high shoulder shot to anchor him to the spot on your side of the water. Elsewise you're going to be getting wet and have a real job at dragging.

I prefer the thick areas. I use to hunt some of the thickest river bottom thickets along the rivers in Missouri and always seen more deer movement, and catch older class deer sneaking through. Even on my place now I'd rather hunt thicket edges over fields/open hardwoods anyday even if that meant not being able to see more than 20-30 yards.

thanks guys, I am going to give it a shot tomorrow. I figure if I don't see anything I will set my cam up for a few days then go back.

that the good thing about this set up, I can switch if the wind is blowing the wrong way. Cliff on one side and creek and more thickets on the other.
