I killed a doe last tuesday and she dropped 20 yards from my stand. I took her as far as i could to gut her. Just wondering if anyone thinks the other deer that were around when the shot happened would be afraid to come to the area and if the blood that she spilled out would deter other deer from the area.
 
I don't know if the other deer know that she got shot or understand that she got shot. It may make them a bit leery, but who knows. There are other deer in the area I assume?? That being said, they were not present and if there is a food source there they will come in, if they want it.

As for blood and guts, I gut mine where they lay. the guts are gone within 24 hrs usually and deer don't mind them much.
 
I killed a doe during an evening hunt, gutted it and drug it out. Then hunted the next morning and had several doe walk right by where the gut pile use to be and continue right by my stand within shooting range.
 
I killed three one morning & had to run the buzzards off that evening but still seen deer on that very top .I don't think it bothers them that much but when you gut them your scent should be around & that might spook them if it is damp.
 
I've had deer come up and smell deer I shot, so I don't think it matters....
 
Gut piles don't scare deer. If they wander by one they will stop and smell out of curiosity. I set up a trail cam on a gut pile a few years ago and posted the pics here. It was amazing how many visitors that gut pile had in two days. Lots of deer, buzzards, a hawk, a bobcat and even a dog.
