I'll refer back to one thing BSK said on here several years ago that has always stuck with me. Typically, you get 3 good sits in a stand to kill a mature buck and if I remember correctly for where they hunt it was a 3+ year old buck. I think this applies more to big timber hunting than slipping into a box blind in a big field.
Bsk was ahead of his time. Multiple studies of GPS collared bucks since then have shown EXTREME avoidance of a particular stand after just ONE hunt!
It takes around 7 days for the deer to frequent the area just as much as they did before that first hunt.
I know this is true, have lived it dozens of times... yet I will still go back into the same stand day after day if ive seen a deer I want to kill from that stand earlier in the trip. (almost always unsuccessfully, I might add)
