Hunters Ed Volunteer?

Was considering submitting an application to become a volunteer for Hunters Ed and other TWRA events after reading the article in the latest TN Wildlife issue. Has anyone done this? Would love to hear from anyone that is currently volunteering or has in the past.

The main question I have is the time commitment. How often and for how long? I'd be interested in helping with any Hunters Ed classes, hunting, shooting, or archery events.
 
I did it in the past. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend.
Time commitments aren't bad. Find out who is currently doing it in your area and reach out.
When I was involved, the GW was the leader and the volunteers would teach sections of the course. Having multiple volunteers allowed for many more classes to be offered and didn't rely on one volunteer for every class.

Its great your wanting to give back!
Keep us posted on your journey and how the process of volunteering goes.
Maybe it will encourage others to get involved and serve others. Something we sadly dont see as much of these days. Hope it works out for you to volunteer!
 
I did. Had a great time doing it. We wanted to do some classes at our church as part of our sportsman's ministry, so our pastor got certified to teach, and several of us were helping as non-certified volunteers. We had a couple of instances where he needed to leave a class to go preform some pastor duties for other parishioners, but didn't have anyone that could take over the class. So I went and got my certification to allow that to happen when needed. I wound up being the lead for a while, but after cancer took him and I lost my teaching partner, I only did a couple of field days. Since Covid, I just have not done any classes, and I probably won't since my wife passed and I lost my helper.
