Any of you guys use the sidescan electronics from hummingbird? If so how do you like it?

I also have a 1197 and a 997. As hatchie said, they will change the way you fish. Used correctly, and they will make you an even more successful fisherman.

I'd like to up grade the ones on my boat. R they easy to figure out or are they complicated ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got in the boat with a "professional" and he showed me a lot of stuff. What also helps is idling down a bank and looking at structure you can see. I will tell you that rocks look like rocks and if something is on the bottom it will stick out like a sore thumb. With the down scan feature you can count the branches on a tree.

A friend of mine has one of the 900 series on his boat. It's awesome, but the new Down Image electronics looks like they'd blow the side image stuff out of the water. When I hit the lottery one of these days I'm gonna get one :D

I run a boat shop and just went to Hummingbird school! By far the easiest and best out there PS don't tell any of my Lowrance customers I said that LOL

Thanks for the reply. I thought it would make a difference like that.... I might just try and get one some time soon. I know it will help catch a lot more fish. We usually don't know exactly all the breaks and changes without the tech. given to us today. I love it. I just figure it will take a little while to figure it all out.

I've got an 1197 on my bow and an 1197 on my console. If you are a ledge fisherman it is a must. I do not make a cast anymore unless I see fish. It also makes re-finding a school of fish easier - by that I mean fish that move up and down a ledge from where you caught them a few days before. H-bird's menus are much quicker and easier to use than Lowrance. Also if you buy one make sure you ethernet the bow and console units to make the waypoints you make with the side scan easier to locate and fish on the front. Stay away from H-bird's interlink system.
