If you don't think it bothers deer, well think again. I setup a trailcam were my buddy hunts got pictures of his last hunt on 10/08, then cold until 10/15. Then it went to 13 straight days of deer all hours of the day. This stand was only hunt for 4 days, opening weekend then 2 weeks later

Sounds to me that he needs to try a little harder when it comes to scent control and playing the wind. And it dont seem to me that scent was the only problem. Deer are smart and cautious, but they ain't that smart and cautious. Unless they are very mature. And I'd be willing to bet that every single deer in that area ain't mature. So IMO there is something else goin on besides scent.

Okay but when do you start the part about human scent?

Most likely more than scent, although good scent control, even when just checking cameras often, can save a spot.
