I'd love to know the width on that one. Shesh.

I saw that online where the hunter stopped by a friends house and they say it measured 27" didn't say inside or outside

Re: Huge deer estimated at 170"

There is a 170 in the kill thread too in case y'all haven't seen it. Posted yesterday I think

A great buck but I'm doubting 170. He won't likely get credit for all that width since his beam length is likely less than the width. Still a fantastic buck.

That is a close friend of mines deer I will let y'all know what it scores when I do

How does that work do they drop the spread measurement to match the main beams?

I think the spread credit can equal but not exceed the mainbeam length of the longest antler.

Correct. But the way his beams sweep around, he wont get docked much i dont think.

I could be wrong but I don't see 170,awful short tines, but pictures can be deceiving

81" just in beam length and width. Another 35" or so in mass is if it really has 6" bases. The other 8 points just need to total 55" in length.

And 55" is about what he has, I don't see 168-170" being a problem

Great buck but I also don't see 170". I don't see 6" bases and his tines aren't that long. As mentioned though pictures can be deceiving. Please post the score when you get it.

The B&C scoring system doesn't allow for spread to outscore beam length but I don't think the Buck Master system accounts for spread (someone correct me if I'm wrong on that). Personally, I think if you're going to score one everything and every which way he grew it should count. I understand deductions for rack symmetry reasons but I just can't wrap my head around deducting something (like it's not there) when I'm sitting there looking at it.

I believe the spread can be no more than the longest main beam.

I am glad to see some quality deer coming out of these areas no matter the score

Last I knew of the Buck Master score system it only scored antler from which you are correct no spread , don't they call it the BTR ?

Really awesome deer , reminds me of a buck at FT Campbell that scored 173 killed when I was hunting in same area in 2012 I believe. Super wide but short tines. I killed a green score 177 gross week ago which was a lifetime goal I did not think would happen hunting in east tn, will probably not net 170 typical but a lifetime buck for sure. It's in the kill thread.

Is that him in your avatar pic? Anything close to 170 is unbelievable, especially in TN.

Yes. Although the stupid resizer thing just screwed it up. Got him the last day of Muzzleloader. One sighting the last two years on cam. Was a clean ten last year then he grew an extra point on right beam. Still cannot believe he showed up in daylight when I was out there. Thought he would remain a ghost deer.
