When ever I hunt with my compound and stand up to draw, my summit climber squeaks with the weight shift. Anyone know how to fix the sound? I am trying to get back into bow hunting..

Once you get your stand where you want it, put a ratchet strap around the base and cinch it down. It will be more sturdy (safer) and it won't move when you stand (quieter).

Do you think it has to do with the angle of the platform on the tree?

I have this problem from time to time with my summit climber and ladder stands to some degree as well.
In my experience there are 2 main factors which will contribute to this.
1. (as before mentioned) the finished angle of your stand. The closer to level the better. Its easy to adjust the seat portion even when you are 20' up. If the bottom angle is off, its back to the bottom to adjust. I actually prefer my seat at a slight upward angle for comfort, but if #2 problem exists then it can get a bit of a squeak. When I attach the safety strap I lift up on the seat portion to get the strap tighter. So when I sit it will really dig in. I also give it a few side to side shifts to loosen the bark on top of the teeth.
The squeak is from friction between the metal and the tree itself. So, a lot of times you can kind of rock it back and forth to break/crease a bit of a gap above the teeth in the bark.
2.The type of tree is a big factor as well, or placement in said tree. The softer and thicker barked trees like big pine trees let the teeth really dig in deep and create a lot of surface contact on top and bottom of the teeth, thus a greater chance of friction squeaks.
just always try to wiggle it a fair amount to create a gap between the bark and the top of the teeth, get the strap tight , and or put a ratchet strap on it.

No way I'm buying a new climber, I love my summit! And thanks guys, I will try to give it the "rock" when I get up in the tree and I'll file the powder coating off.

One thought is to take the stand apart and coat it with the spray on rubber coating they use for tool handles. You can buy the stuff anywhere aerosol paint is sold. If the squeak is coming from parts rubbing where they fasten this should help a lot. You'll have to let it sit outside a while to get rid of the paint smell though.

Buy a good stand. Jokes aside I wouldn't put up with that. Is something loose or broken. Definitely shouldn't be happening

Sunday I had the same problem with my Viper SD. I have never had it do that. Every time I stood up or set down it would squeak. The angle of the bottom platform was higher than normal. I jumped twisted and shook lol to try to get it to stop but it wouldn't. Thanks for the thread I may be getting my file out.

You may want to give these a try: Third Hand Stabilizer Straps.
I stumbled across them a couple of years ago, and they lock my summit 180 down tight -- no movement at all in the tree once you cinch them down. If the squeaking is due to the whole platform moving then it should help you out.

My luck with summits is u don't have to file powder coat off because mine flakes anyways on 3 summits I have. Never buying another. I'm all api now.
