How do you do your trail cam survey's To get a head count? I'm assuming corn or something instead of Minerals this time of year. With the season closing Sunday I'm getting ready to try it
 
UB=unique bucks
TB=total of bucks in photographs
TD=total does in photographs
TF=total fawns in photographs

The estimated amount of individual does is (TD/TB)*UB

The estimates amount of individual fawns is (TF/TB)*UB


Sex ratio is (TD/TB)

Fawn recruitment is (TF/TD)*100


Post season censusing can be a little skewed due to deer being killed if you are looking for a representation of what uses your property during season

Exactly, but that's what a post-season census is for--to find out how many deer survived the season.

Corn-based bait is a good and fairly safe bet during winter. I would aim for at least one baited camera site for every 160 acres (4 per square mile).
 
Would you put the camera and corn along the edge where a path comes out into a cut bean or freshen up trophy rock s
sites and put corn there? Also how long do you feel it takes to get the majority of deer on those cameras? Thanks

If an area has cut-over ag fields, I like to put food-based bait along trails leading to these fields, and more specifically in the staging areas deer use before entering the fields. As long as bait is placed along normal travel-ways, I would expect to get all the deer you are going to get on camera with 2-3 weeks. Winter food-based bait censuses usually catch all the deer they will catch quicker than a summer census does.
 
Let me add that I NEVER recommend using corn bait for summer censuses, due to aflatoxin concerns. But in the cold of the winter, mold growth on the corn (at least the aflatoxin producing molds) is not as much of a concern.
