So I regaled Y'all with the story of my first (suspect missed) shot at a big buck ever for me....to make it better, it was on my new farm. He was looking right at the box blind when I let fly with the smoker. He ran off...thinking it was a good shot, spent four hours traipsing around the area I thought he might have piled up and traveled into a gazillion trails And very thick stuff scenting it all up hoping to find my big guy dead. I came across a number of fresh rubs and trails. Hoofprints looked like I was at the feeding coral at a high fence operation on the east edge of my property. That morning, the guy mosied towards me and it was the first time I have seen the wind out of the east, so I was dead downwind of the area (100 yds) for the hunt.
Assuming the wind is calm or from the east, and assuming by all the activity he wasn't the only big deer thru there, with all this activity, how long will I have spoiled the area with my reckless 4 hour search on Sunday? I'm going back out on Thurs would it be ok to try this place again so soon....it was my first time on that blind this year....I did keep my old lease, and I'm thinking about going here instead.....waddy a think? Try there again on Thursday or go to my lease? I'm trying to keep my farm a little unpressured so that the whole family can hunt diff spots on my farm on gun opener Sat.
