All you will be doing is guessing this time of year.

The only exception is if he has a bodily marking that you can identify him with from past years

foodplot tommy,

Always hard to field judge age on summertime bucks. But I would say somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2, but if you get one, be sure to post some pics of him in late October or early November.

I'm laughing at all the 1/2's, since the fawns just recently dropped he would be nearer to the whole number than the 1/2's. You guys stuck in deer season aging?

when it's time to hunt him he will be in the 1/2's. but if it makes you feel better he is 2 now! LOL!

Good observation,about the halfs.
That deer could be 4 years old or he could be 2 ,only the lord realy knows.
But if we had teeth now that is different.

Good call about the age actually not being at the "1/2" mark yet. But most hunters are thinking of deer season, when a buck could be hunted and they are at or near the "1/2" age. Just standard practice (although not an accurate one as you pointed out).
