I started running mine about a month ago and been checking every 2 wks. I have a few good bucks on my cams and feel that I need to stay out as much as I can. How do you check yours?
 
Early in the spring, into summer I usually go 2-3 weeks. But as summer kicks in, and thru early Fall, I extend that time to 4-5 weeks.
 
i was checking mine every month, i just started corn last week will do corn the month of Aug check them every weekend now adding corn so i can get a good idea of whats on the farm to get my hit list together.
 
This time of year, 3-5 weeks. Starting in October, about every week or two because I am constantly moving them at that time

I did this last year and the one mature buck i was getting pics of disappeared. maybe he was going to do it anyway, but I don't know.

This year I put out TR at the end of May and just pulled the card last weekend. I had to go out to do some work this weekend, but plan to stay out until I hunt it.
 
I try to at least once a week or every two weeks before season if I am using an attractant and continue to get pictures of deer I want to kill. During the season I check the whenever I'm hunting in the area.
 
I used to check every week but that was mainly back with film cameras that could only take 36 pictures so you had to change film weekly anyhow.

Nowadays I check every 2 weeks. My limitation now is battery life. I still have the cheap cameras that eat batteries like deer eat corn. I don't think it makes a big negative impact going in this often because I'm getting pictures of decent bucks. However, in 12 years of continuous trail camera running, I've never got a picture of a mature buck though so maybe my tactics are still somewhat lacking.

I am getting more good bucks(2-3 yr old) on film than ever before this year because of one simple change I made from reading this web site. That is to mount the camera above the line of sight of a deer. I'm putting my cameras up about 6 feet high now compared to 3 feet before and it obviously makes a big difference. Before every deer was looking right at the camera and I didn't get many pictures of bucks at all. That's no longer the case.

That's why I leave them out the last month or so before season wo checking them. Then, as I'm hunting, I will stop by and swap cards throughout the season. ;)
 
once a week sometimes 2x. I think most of you are giving them too much credit. Deaddownwind checks his weekly and none leave also. My thing is I hunt more than once a week so I kinda want them to get use to me. My in-laws check theirs every couple of days. They can ride up on the deer on atv's and as soon as they leave, the deer come back like cows before we are out of sight.

Yeah, I know that's been discussed here before and it's definitely something to consider. If deer get used to the scent of humans to the point that they don't panic at the 1st hint of human scent, it could actually work to your advantage. The problem is knowing how much you can get away with. OF course that's most likely going to vary with individual deer and bucks are probably going to be touchier than does as to how much they will tolerate. I know I'm not going to go to the extreme some do with staying out of my woods just for that one brief moment to kill a big buck.
 
Weekly.

Over bait (and I'm generally using the same baited site for years), I take no precautions about scent as the bait draws the deer anyways. having used these bait sites for years, the deer have learned human contact at those precise locations is no threat. However, once I move the cameras away from bait in September, I'm EXTREMELY cautious about scent around the camera site.
