I agree, I like the long season but Tennessee has way to long of a gun season.

Actually their gun season is so short because of so many people hunting and so few deer/land to hunt on.The deer would be killed out if they had a long gun season like TN did.They don't do it to please the bowhunters or grow trophy deer,they do it to protect the herd from over harvest..


With that said I wouldn't bow hunt at all if I could harvest more does during MZ or Gun season.I only bow hunt so I can harvest more antlerless deer..PERIOD..I would give it up in a heart beat if I Morgan co was in Unit A.Don't get me wrong,I like bowhunting,but it is expensive to bowhunt.I'd rather be MZ or Gun hunting for sure.
 
like all three but if i could only use one weapon, rifle for sure.plus time of season is so special. i like the thought of any buck showing up anytime of day.

I have to agree�our deer season is fine, our gun season is way to long. Look at just about any state north of here and not one of them have anywhere near the gun season we do.
 
I prefer hunting with a bow. It just seems more fun to me. I think the season length as a whole is fine. I wish there was an archery only break in between MZ and centerfire or somewhere in centerfire with the same rules as regular archery season though. That being said, I think the centerfire season could be shortened some to reduce hunting pressure in some areas of the state.
 
just change limit to one buck or two instead of three. thats the big deal up north. why shorten season , kill one buck and be done. alot more of us would be getting mature bucks.
 
I bow hunt from beginning to end of season with 1-2 muzzle load hunts mixed in. I just prefer the bow simply for the challenge and thrill.

Missouri has something like this and the out of state tags are not that expensive/b]

To offer hunters more options during what was formerly the muzzleloader portion of the firearms deer season, additional hunting methods will be allowed in 2012.

Season dates
Dec. 15�25 statewide

Methods
Muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearms .40 caliber or larger and capable of firing only a single projectile at one discharge; in-lines and scopes are allowed.

Multiple-barreled muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearms and/or muzzleloading or cap-and-ball handguns, including revolvers, .40 caliber or larger, are allowed and may be carried in addition to a muzzleloading or cap-and-ball rifle.

Centerfire pistols or revolvers using expanding-type bullets; legal ammunition includes lead bullets, copper bullets and bullets made of other material designed to expand.

Air-powered guns, .40 caliber or larger, charged only from an external high compression power source (external hand pump, air tank or air compressor)

Longbows, compound bows or recurve bows of any draw weight; hand-held string-releasing devices, illuminated sights, scopes and quickpoint sights are allowed.

Crossbows

Atlatls, which are defined as a rod or narrow board-like device used to launch, through a throwing motion of the arm, a dart 5 to 8 feet long

I prefer ML over the others as well. For some reason I just do not like when I see a big boy out at 40-50 yds, in the woods, and can't get a bow shot at him.
