How many keep some type of journal?

As title states. How many keep a journal? If so, what kind of information you log? I kinda keep one, but not really sure it helps other than to refresh my memory about specific rut dates etc.

I journaled using isportsmansjournal on my phone last year but this year I ain't done anything other than video

I keep one. Have most years/hunts since I started hunting a few years ago. It has evolved, but I put date, stand location, wind speed and direction, weather conditions, time, deer sightings, and other notes and observations. As OP stated, mostly jogs my memory of rut timing, etc. but also productivity of different stands at diefferent times and dates.

Use to but I no longer do. I may start back with doing it because it's fun to look back and relive some of the experiences on paper.

Not so much other than noting general trends. That is mostly done by keeping better track of what deer are doing on cameras in the places I have not hunted yet. I've never known what week generally tends to be our peak breeding in Henderson Co. I intend to try and figure out when the scrapes heat up and then virtually stop for a while. Also noting what dates a new buck shows up.

I never have in the past but, I've started a journal this year for the upcoming season. I'm doing it on my computer in Microsoft Works.

I have kept a journal the past two years. Im so glad i did. I record the weather and deer sightings, etc. But mostly, its to record all the mishaps, forgotten equip, and near death experiences that occur on almost every trip. Its nice to look back and remember things that my son did or said, that otherwise i wouldve forgotten. I begin every year with "range day" in Oct, and follow thru on every hunt, and even things hunting related that i do at home, until the end of the season. Good memories.

I do and it helps.

I log the obvious stuff, but I also jot down why I hunt when and where, what I find when I scout, how I want to hunt what I kind while scouting, then what I actually do, and the results.

I just use the "notes" function on my iphone, then transfer it to a word doc on my PC at the end of the season.
