depends on what it is. I have one that hasn't been fired in 10 years that isn't going anywhere. And its not worth that much. Back in my younger days I was bad about buying, selling and trading on a regular basis. I wish I would have kept all the firearms I've bought and sold over the years.
Then again if I needed the money I would hesitate to sell a certain few I have.
 
Depended on how bad I needed the money. If I weren't in a pinch for the $$$, no way I would sell anything. I've got several rifles that haven't been shot in over 5 years- just too many to play with :)
 
I kept one in my safe for 30 years. There was a reason I bought it and took care of it.
 
My grandfather gave me a used .410 single shot Iver Johnson about 50 years ago. I don't think I would sell it if it sits here and I don't use it for another 50.
 
I have two for over five years that have never had a shell put in them. Have two more that I have never fired and three more that have not been fired in eight to ten years.

None of them are for sale. I have got about four that I just used all the time.

I was asked once why I wanted so many guns. Answer was just because I did not have one of them.

About the same as the rest above. I do think about letting one go now and then but talk myself out of it.
 
Since I'm not a collector, and have limited funds, it'd only sit till I found something I WOULD use.
 
Depends on what it is. If its a family hierloom then never get rid of it. Pass it on to your kids and hope they don't sell it. If its a collectors item and you don't need the money then hold on to it. If its just some rifle that has no sentimental value or collectors value that you never shoot then get rid of it.

I have a springfield 1873 trapdoor which I bought at an auction. I have not shot it in 20 years but I have no desire to get rid of it. I had some other old beat up military rifles sitting in my safe for years which I never shot and I started trading them for guns I would use.
