How long?

Do you let a fescue based field "grow up"? I have seen old
abandant farms that grow up to be great deer cover and have a
very diversified growth of vegatation. I would think you might
want to bushog strips several feet wide to keep it growing for
future years.

As far as time goes, I have seen unattended fields "spring" up in
as little as two years. I guess a food plot or two might be good
in the middle or very near the growth, as it gets taller and
thicker.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with cover and food combinations.....
I dont have a clear pic in my mind but i am not a fan of fescue....

I'm not a "fan" of fescue either. That was my point of the post.
Most fescue fields are mowed or bushogged on a reagular basis, or
atleast once or twice a year. A former poster on this site gave
me some excellent tips on how to let a fescue field "grow up".

I know just after a yr without mowing/bushogging the field over here by the house gets pretty thick,prob gets chest high.Never seen it go 2 yrs but I imagine after 3 or 4 it would be pretty "thick".
