LOL, if kept in the right environment monofiliment will hold up better than youd think!

my 6# stren will be gone off the reel from snags before it gets to worn out. it's a good line, caught a 6lb buffalo on it last night

I have a 9,000 yard spool of six I have been using since 1984. I will die long before I use it up. It is still just as good as the day I bought it...for $21.95.

I keep all my line in the freezer. Been doing it for years. Never have line go bad on me. Leave it where it is exposed to heat and sun and I have seen it go bad in 24 hours. When fishing hard, I change line every day, especially the low weights like 4 and 6.

Thats cool to know... I got an old spool of Stren 5 pound, don't even know how old it is, but the logo is completely different. I bet it is still perfectly good to use.

Wonder if Stren 5 pound with different logo would be a collectors item?

dunno, but it's not a new spool. Has plenty of line used. but it's a big spool too... probably about 6 inches wide by 2 inches thick (ish)

Does it really help to keep it in the freezer?

I re-spool my reels all the time when I am fishing TXs. I didn't realize how much line I go through until I cleaned out my collection garbage can. The spent line loosely filled two standard trash bags. I plan to submit this line for recycling.
