How far does scent carry?

I am planning for my annual hunting trip in Kansas and I was thinking about a stand location located in a horseshow draw. I was looking at an aerial map pondering if I could get away with a wind direction that blows across the open field from one side of the horsehoe to the other. So how far does human scent carry?

Depends on your amount of odor, wind speed, thermals, humidity, terrain... I would say.. In some situation u need to worry about it for 2-300 yrs but in some only 30-50 yrds. Just my personal opinion

Under those circumstances, you may be able to get away with far more than you think.

Another thing to consider (that most don't) is "How pressured are the local deer?" Highly pressured deer are going to be much more jumpy about human scent than little-pressured deer.

I think that the pressure is the key as well.

If it was me I could pull a hair off the game I was after. That close. I've had deer lay down right next to me, as long as I didn't move, they were clueless. Once I moved and had a deer dance in front of me for about 5 minutes. It must have thought it was bigger and badder than me, it was dark out.

Most people really don't take scent control very seriously, they think they do, but they don't.
