I am trying to see deer on stand. I'm bumping them going in and out.
So how far do you hunt from bed on average.
 
Sometimes it's less about how far from a bedding area and more about the route and wind direction for your entry and exit. It often means taking the long way around or walking in a creek or ditch where you're hidden from view. I have stands that are literally within bow range of bedded deer but I'm able to get in/setup without making a peep and the wind is in my favor.
 
Some areas are evening spots for this very reason. Either change your route in hopes of finding a way in without bumping them or hunt it in the evening. Unfortunately, nobody here can give you the exact answer. You'll have to put the stand time in, so you can pattern what's going on at this specific spot. I will say this, if you consistently bump deer in a spot, thats not a good thing and they'll get tired of the pressure and move to "safer" area.
 
i think to answer your question there are many possible answers depending on what time of year its is, what type of animal your wanting to harvest (mature buck, young buck, doe), accessibility of the bedding area, weather on the day of the hunt, and the individual personality of the animal ...all play a big part in the answer to your question, along with many other things im sure that im leaving out. my question to you, to try and be helpful in giving a legitimate answer, would be, "could you provide some more information in regards to the things that I have listed above?"

i think that we could narrow down the scope of possibilities that way and help you kill something! or at least provide some good information to assist you in the future...

Open ended question as, available cover, food sources, pressure, etc all play a role in every different situation.

It seems to me that you might be passing your killzone...does will travel much further from their beds than mature bucks will, for the most part, in daylight hours. Therefore getting in real tight on a doe bed isn't as necessary. Instead I would start hunting where your bumping deer on the way in. Maybe hold back 50-60 yards and if the hunt doesn't produce slowly work your way in closer

I'd hunt where your bumping them on the way out because more than likely it's where u bumped them on the way in. More than likely it's either on the edge of a cut/big timber or among a bunch of oxbow loops or rivers edge. There's something different about it. It might be deer stopping at dropping acorns while headed to bed
 
Dead on its different it's like the timber was cut years ago and heavy undergrowth. Some cuts as we'll like oxbows with heavy vegetation waist high. I will try evenings and hunt where I am bumping them . Am hunts I will try not so close , thanks good tips! I will post if I have any luck

But what fun is that? To me that's the most spiritual part of the hunt, getting in before daylight and watching the sun come up. Nothing like it in my opinion. And yes I love sunsets.

In general I try and set my stand locations up where I can catch the deer coming from or to their bedding or feeding spots.

Your question of how far is quite broad. It depends.

I usually look at the travel routes of the deer and try and pick my stand locations on the travel routes within appropriate distance to the weapon of choice. Bow Muzzleloader ETC.

I'm pretty good at it lol closest I've setup on a bed is 65-75 yds with full vegetation ...that will change in the winter. If am hunts are your thing then be sitting down by 4 am and come in from the back
