when using a .22 for squirrel hunting. ive done it before i mainly set were i find the most cuttings and do well but ive never put together a limit and thats my goal this year. just wondering if yall have any tips or suggestions for me.

You start with at a good spot before daylite,then after fishing that area out move on very slowly.you cant grow roots & expect to take a limit most days.they will not herd up most of the time & 3-4 young ones are about the biggest amount i see regular in 1 spot.if you have a small set of bino's get use to using them to scout farther out than you can with your eyes.good luck & make having fun your goal & the limit may or may not show its self every time ,amazing what you can see when your out there :)
 
Keep moving if you want a limit. If you sit a 1 tree waiting on the squirrels to show up you will never kill more than 4 or 5 most days. I hunt the same woods most of the time and I know what trees they will be in. I sneak up to where I can see the tree and wait to see movement. If there are not any squirrels there yet I go the next tree and work my way back.

You will save your self a lot of time if you can go scout a place you are going to hunt this weekend. Go midday when the squirrels are not out and find the trees they are cutting on right now and you can be there at first light opening day. If you can find 3 or 4 good trees they are cutting on right now you will be able to get a limit if you don't stay at one tree to long.
 
Around here I like to walk dry creeks and ditches and just keep moving and it is not problem to kill a limit anytime. You will do lots of walking but you will end up with more squirrels in the end.
 
Whatch ur steps walkking dry creekbds & ditchs.lots of holes B hiding places for snakes

i try to map out each hunt. with my schedule, i am usually afforded about 10 hunts. so i focus on spots that i know can produce a limit. i enter the woods just before first light and wait till limbs start swinging. i then determine which area looks the most promising. kill all in area and move on. if you wait in one spot all morning, limits are tough. i always go the squirrels and try to focus on travelers and cutters. doubles are nice.
 
I have been known to wear my tennis shoes,,if I can hear one bark or dropping cuttins I cant wait,,it is worse than turkey hunting..

Also agree. I am either going to do two things when squirrel hunting and many times both. Either cover a lot of territory or kill a limit. I can't stay in one place and will cover a lot of ground. It usually pays off at some point.

Still fishing. :D I fished Fri night and all night Sat night so no squirrel hunting this past weekend. We will be camping and after them this coming weekend. I plan on taking my 4 yr old for the first time Sat morning. There may not be a limit in store for me that morning but that doesn't matter. I can't wait. I am going to try to slip off by myself on Fri morning though. Looks like you started strong.
