Well I'll start off by saying this... His treeing skills will need work, but by God if I lose him I can count on him being at the truck when I get back. Gonna need to invest in a tracking collar.

I found that the dogs do much better later in the year. Many more squirrels on the ground for them to get used to chasing. I lost my squirrel dog last year, and I'm still mourning.
 
Shoot, with all the leaves on now that's a great dog hunt! If he treed enough that you could find 5 in the tree and kill them this time of year you've got a superstar! I don't even take my dog till November.

Good hunt! I love my Original Mountain Cur and taking her out and hearing her tree. Squirrel hunting has become a lost art.
