Hot weather and Smallmouth?

Seems they go off into the abiss on Center Hill and Dale Hollow.I can catch a few at daylight and dark,and night fishing is ok,but those big girls have to be eating something,somewhere?Im hoping this hot spell wont get em off the bank this early,last year I was able to stay on em pretty good till July 4th.

Any ideas?

AAnd by bank I mean 15 to 20 foot of water + -
 
You said it, night and dawn dusk. I like main channel points with very deep water right there...but they don't come up shallow enough to catch for long!
 
Get two quality black lighst, one for each side of the boat. get a good supply of 1/8 and 1/4 punce black flies with purple, plit tail prok trailers. get a couple big blue and black spinner baits and of course a good supply of worms. Wait until about 10 p.m. and go for it.

Some of my best fishing on the Hill was at night. Points and dropoffs and especially second or inside points. Star at 20 feet and work in to six or eight.
 
Not "the hill" for me, especially at night, and especially since there is somewhere I can twice as many and better smallmouth all day long (even during the hottest days) and see very few other fishermen. It is public and I am not giving any hints other than it is closest thing to Canada I have ever seen and it is in Tennessee.

HH-If you are not telling, what good is your post? I know of a few places like that but I'm not telling, either. Oh, I might tell a couple. Try the Smith first, then the Jones. You'll probably want to wade the Jones if you don't mind snakes. And of course, there is always the Cumberland. Start right in downtown Nashville and work around the bridge pilings. It is some excellent smallmouth fishing.

Close to Canadian fishing? Flag on that. I see again why I have your posts on my ignore list.

:) I don't fish much but I have some family that can absolutely wear the hill out year around!! Of course they basically lived right there on it their whole lives!! I wish I could catch fish consistently up there. Anyone ever do much cat fishing on center hill?? Wonder if there are any big ones?? Like 40+ lbs? My boss been dragging some 5-6 lbers out of the hill the last two months, if you got somewhere you can get more and better, you a lucky man

Was fishing a deep point one day a few weeks ago on Center Hill,20 yards or so off the bank,standing up,running the trolling motor.I just happened to look down in front of the boat,it took me a while to realize what I saw,It wasnt a gar,carp,and certainly not a bass.

I actually set down and thought about it,had to be a flat head.Man was it big,really big,I immediatly thought 60 plus pounds.He was just swimming by in 100 foot of water.
 
Bowriter, if you are ignoring me, how do you know what I am posting? Even when you read my posts (which you must read them all) you still can't get it right.

Did I say it was the same as canadian fishing? NO. I said it was the closest thing I have seen to fishing in Canada.

It is not Dale Hollow either. Bowriter you are a legend in your own mind. And no, you have not guessed it, but it is better than Dale Hollow and the Hill put together, of course that is my opinion and why would you care what I think anyways since you "supposedly" ignore me. All you do is try and stir people up for no other reason than to cause trouble.

Bowriter, it is more than ok with me if you just forget I exist, I don't pay any attention to much of anything you post unless it is directed toward me. My 11 year old daughter likes to look at this site at times but is not allowed to view anything you write because of the vulgarity you use at times.

If it was a 60# flat his head would have been as wide as your forearm is long!!! It probably was, I know there are a lot of flats in in there!! Where about you.from football hunters?? I work at trw in Lebanon !
 
I caught about a 60lb flat head once, fishing a tourn and he ate my 10$ homemade lil petey, which is the only reason I wasted the 15 mins it took to get him boatside, with my spinning reel and 8 lb test. His head was as wide as a dinner plate for sure, big ugly and tough as nails, bent my hooks up pulling them out with pliers! lol

Reminds me of something,hard to beleive the giant smallmouth Billy Westmorland caught on light line and the equipment of that day.Was reading his book again recently.
