Smokeless Hornady SST 250 gr bullets

Who sales the Hornady SST 250 gr .452 bullets in a 50 pack without the sabots? I usually buy the 20 pack with the sabots but I use MMP. So I would like a larger bullet count with no sabots. This is what I shoot, but with a MMP sabot.

Well, that is a MMP sabot. MMP makes them for Hornady. That sabot though is a MMP 3 petal EZ but red instead of typical black.

As far as the bulk 250gr SST, you should be able to get them at Cabelas although they will probably be labeled 250gr FTX, Hornady quit selling bulk SSTs for MLs.

But isn't the Hornady made red ones thinner walled? Compared to the MMP HPH.

Hornady does not make sabots but yes the 3 Petal-EZ sabot is very small loaded OD. Smaller than all other MMP HPH series sabots.

BTW if you have some of those 3 petal sabots, you can put a .458 bullet in them and end up with about a .506 loaded OD. When used with the .452 SST they are about .500-.501 which is WAY too small for most Savage bores.

.506 might still be too small unless a MMP HPH-12 fits your bore well. Both will be very close in loaded OD

Gotcha I do use a MMP HPH 12 @ .506 to .507 with the Hornady .452 bullet. Works well, thanks for the info.
