I think I will dust the 300 RUM off and try these new bullets,,with a BC of .710 and a MV of over 3000 fps ,,that would be some serious long range horse power,,not 338 LM power ,,but I sure as heck wouldnt want to try and stop one at 1,000 yards where it would still be going 1900 fps and have 1700 ft/lbs left,,heck it would stay supersonic to 2050 yards,,

for comparison my 69 gr 223 load has 1400ft/lbs at the mzzl and goes subsonic at 1075
,

I wish I had 2 grand to drop on a scope,,

and any of ya`ll that shoot long range 308,,they have a 195 gr version of this bullet that looks like it would be real sweet in a 308 or 30-06.

You are a better man than me! 225gr bullet moving 3000fps out of a non-braked rifle that I'm guessing weighs less than 10lbs or so sounds like a beating.

On the other hand I bet it will shoot lights out at distance.

I'm with 7-08, there's a reason i sold my 300 mag, should have just put a brake on it but didn't really know much about shooting then.

There is something manly sounding about "300 RUM" that makes all my short actions whimper a little.

I been toying with having it braked or rebarreled for a long time,,

these new bullets and powders are really hard not to notice,,the new 230 Hybird Berger and this Hornady bullet with a 30 inch bbl and a good scope should make good hits a lot farther than what has been the norm.

After playing with the .338LM I have a whole new respect for muzzlebrakes.

The 300RUM with that kind of performance will probably scratch your .338Lm or 338 edge itch that you have, at a fraction of the cost.
