I know I am asking about the wrong state, but has anybody ever hunted hear? If so, what does the hog population look like in this area?

I got permission to hunt about 850 acres near Walnut is why I was asking, but if I have to buy the license anyways, I'm sure I can find somebody that will let me kill a hog or two on their property.

I have a lease in Henderson Co. that needs some doe thinning so I probably won't kill many does down there. Mostly going to be turkey hunting.

It would be worth checking out the property for hog sign. I used to hunt in the Nat'l Forest a good bit. -lots of hog sign, but I didn't see them during daylight too often, just a handful of times. Only thing about the Nt'l Forest is you are limited weapon wise to whatever season is open. On private land, you can hunt hogs with any weapon you wish.

BTW, if you want to kill does on that property, you'll need to enter into a lease agreement in order to be legal as a NR. I hunted a property in MS for the last 5 years and leased it for $1 in order to be legal. That being said "legal" in Mississippi, as you will discover, is just a mere suggestion

I agree with that last statement. I've never met more people in my life with a complete disregard for game laws than the folks in that state (not that they are all that way, but a higher percentage of them by a long, long, long shot).

I have a lease just north of Walnut MS at the TN line. The hogs have been there for several years, but I've only been able to shoot a few of them because they stay pretty much nocturnal. But every now and then one will be up and moving during the day.
