This buck showed up on my place in a TC after
season survey in 2009, BSK once looked
at all my pics of him saying he was
3.5 but could be 4.5 at that time.
We never saw this deer alive during the season,
A couple if times we think we did afterward if closed.
I knew about where he bedded, but I have
sanctuaries that are mostly left alone.
He had been mostly an 8pt all his life, the last
few years he started going down, added junk.
Still a lifetime Trophy to me, started showing up
more during daytime hours. Feeling this was the
year with some added micro plots deer where
loving. But the week before season my GW friend
called said he had bad news, I was thinking
it was more EDH. We had just found a dead
buck looking like it was here, but he said My
Buck was dead. He's very aware of Big deer in
the area working with landowners, plus an
Offical B&C scorer he knows what he talking
about. The buck had been found dead in river,
by a fisherman, he cut the head off and called
a GW. Made me sick, I did meet the guy too
look at him, even tried to buy rack, but he
wasn't interested in selling.
Hate to see him go, and at the same time
would have been sad to shoot him, verses
finding him dead in his bed. But that hardly
happens, and with adjoining hunting pressure
being so high it hard to believe deer live this
long.
