high miles?

how many miles are too many when looking for a motorcycle? don't know much about bikes so any info will help.

Hard to say. Got a friend with a Valkrie that has 120k miles and still going strong. I've seen sportbikes with 10k miles that were worn out.

I had a '93 Soft tail Springer that had 139,000+ on it when i traded it in and the guy that bought it put another 40,000 on it before he had it re built!

My girlfriends ZX9R has 110k on it and its a 1999 or 2000. She and her dad put all them miles on the bike. But they take great care of that bike.

If you went to the Harley Plant in York, Pa. they tell you that a Harley motor is designed to last a minimum of 100,000 miles..if you install bigger cams and pistons and such then it drops down to about 75% of that..Now with the newer Synthetic oils and such..changing oils regular it seems like 150,000 plus is the norm..I have a friend who has a dresser with over 200,000 on it and hasn't been touched yet! I change the oil in mine every 3,500 miles and i always let it sit and warm up till the heads are so hot you can't touch them for more than a couple seconds..
