Grab up a few of those hickories and break them open. If they are good inside, the squirrels will be there sooner or later. I'd keep an eye on that hickory grove.
some varities of hickories are being hammered and some haven't even been touched in my neck of the woods. pignuts are being destroyed in the creek bottoms, and red oaks are getting hot hard as well, but you they are too sporadic to hunt
Hickorys are late this year because of the late spring . Sqs started cutting them last week here . There is a lot of worms in them .
They should be starting on acorns soon .

Check the ones that get the most sunlight..... Tops of ridges or edge of fields, these are the areas the nuts get ripe first......our season came in last weekend and I found hickory trees already cut out...
