New Tazewell
Hello and good morning! New member and new Tennessean here! Just moved to New Tazewell from Upstate, NY- TRULY upstate, closer to Canada, nowhere near NYC. Grew up hunting whitetail in a mix of public and private land with split success across both. Bit of a culture shock moving to East TN in hill country where I'm used to flatter-ish ground, and now my new task is finding some be public land to stomp around on this fall! Excited to be here and absorb the knowledge from my fellow TN deer hunters!

Thank you! I can understand not wanting all the outsiders flocking to TN, and from what I've heard, it's happening ALOT the past few years. But I assure you I'm here for the right reasons! Bad politics, high prices, bad winters and lack of community feel lead me to flee NY to TN, where southern hospitality is a real and beautiful thing!

One of my favorite ones I met was a woman. I walked in the house and there was a blaze orange NRA hat laying on the counter. I said, looks like your husband likes guns and deer hunting? She said "no" I'm single and I like guns and deer hunting. I said , I said welcome to Tennessee!😁

So I originally moved to Middle TN to be a correctional officer back in 2022, long story short; it was a privately owned prison, deplorable conditions, understaffed etc, and rather than die there- I tucked tail and went back home. But I fell in love with my brief time here the first time and dreamed of coming back, and decided to take the leap!

TN was chosen cause I loved the weather, much less snow down here in the winter! You folks are so much nicer here than NY too! Southern hospitality is a real thing! Cost of living is cheaper here as well, and the politics are so much better than how Queen Hochul runs NY.

Welcome to Tennessee! That's definitely a change of scenery from northern New York. The hills can be a challenge at first but they make for some great hunting. Good luck exploring public land this fall and settling into your new hunting grounds.

Welcome to the best campfire on the East Coast and probably all of the US. I'm just up the road from you in Harrogate. The NCWMA is rough country, but offers very good potential, IF, you're not oppose to learning new country and putting boots on the ground

Thank you!! Glad to be here! And North Cumberland is where I've been eyeballing actually! I've got some pins dropped on OnX I wanna get out and put boots on the ground and lay eyes on! It's all new terrain to me, and I'm curious but excited to see how hill/mountain country deer move and behave compared to public land back home.
