Sliced deer heart cooked in butter and seasoned with salt and pepper, then cooked in sauted onions and a little minced garlic.....green beans and creamed corn!

Pork chops as a back up....lol

Dang, I'm slow once again. Read the first caption and then went from top pic straight to bottom pic and missed the caption in between. My dumb butt was fixing to ask why heart became a white meat when it was cooked

I pickle it. It makes a great snack meat, especially combined with Cabot Horseradish Cheddar Cheese

i posted a pickled heart recipe on here years ago. amazing how many people turn their nose up when you tell them its heart. i dig the horseradish cheese too!

Looks good. I just cook it, slice it, slice an onion and layer the heart and onion in a Mason jar. Then fill the jar half way with apple cider vinegar and top off with water. Let stand 24hrs in the fridge before eating

Try it as a breakfast meat. Goes great with scrambled eggs and biscuits.
