Have you seen the .300 Blackout? I am seriously considering building a 16" platform around this round. Up to 200 gr. bullet. The round is allready being mass produced and the dies are availiable to neck down .223 or 7.62 brass. Can put 30 of them in an AR magazine with no mods vice 25 like a .308 moded magazine. Several companies make a can for this specific set up as well. They are QUIET in the sub-sonic load!! Make an awesome varmit weapon, deer weapon and swap the upper to a .223 and have a great plinker!

I have the 300 Whisper, very similar. Keep in mind you can go two ways, a 30 caliber can and shoot 223, 308, etc, or if you shoot subsonic 300's, you can use a 9mm can.

Thinking an RRA or Stag Lower with an RRA two stage trigger. Fully floated upper with fluted/chrome lined barrel, Young Bolt and Carrier on the A-3 platform with flip up front and rear low profile sights for in close and a Leupold Mark 4 Long-Range/Tactical on a look through base for reach out and touch ya's.

.300 Blackout is for sure cool I was very tempted to buy one once. If I were you I would consider building a register SBR and do a 12" upper instead of a 16". It would make it handle nice with the can on the end.

I am looking at this a a hunting and self defense weapon for myself and the 16" is about as short as I want to go in a rifle I hunt with. I could go with the 9" pistol and add a can with one form 4 if I wanted to go the shorty route, decisions, decisions! :D

Def cant go wrong with the rra two stage, love mine.

i am not much of any kind of expert on the ar type platforms and to be honest not familiar of the 300 black out but it appears to just be a 300 whisper type round 308 bullet in 223/221 case

if it was me id just do an ar set up for 308 with trail boss powder u can load subsonic easy and have reg 308 for hunting and self defense
i know a 308 doesnt have the cool factor

i get a r-25 and have at it

I've got a custom blackout on a remmy 700 16" bolt gun. It allows me to use the 220g hornady round nose bullets instead of limiting myself to the 220 SMK's. On a bolt gun, it's silly quiet subsonic. I shot a .5" group at 50 yds in the backyard this afternoon... noone is the wiser :)

And the smack factor when the big 220's hit something is impressive :)

For the kids to deer hunt with, I'm getting around 2200 fps with the 125 NBT's and 17.5g VV110. near Zero recoil, and no ear protection needed.

On an AR platform, I'd def go with the 12" bbl and pay the extra tax stamp. Check into Delta Arms company... they make some really nice uppers in 300 Blackout.

Poor JD Jones... A$$wipe created a great cartridge (300 whisper) and tried to keep it to himself to get all the royalties. Kudos to AAC/Remington for standardizing it as a SAMMI round. Heck, you can now even buy factory brass, loaded ammo, standard dies, etc. Even gun mfg's are making it standard... Rem has a model 7, and savage is coming out with one this year!
