What is the most lethal brand/weight bullet that you have used for deer? I am completing a trigger rebuild on my encore and also putting a new scope on this week so I have to dial it in. Have shot core lokts in the past but have thought of switching. Shot a deer in the lungs in the mountain couple years ago and lost it. Appreciate all responses.

120 nosler bt loaded over max re19 3295 fps

killed about 20 ish with that load give or take a few


i have loaded some 160 accubonds for a bud 2750 fps over h1000

i am sure it will work good

i also loaded the 120 nbt for the same fellas rem 7 short bbl 280 at 3100 fps he killed 2 the loads performed great

as far as factory loads what ever shoots good plain jane core lokt from rem will be fine for whitetail here in tn

i will say this hornaday makes a super performance factory ammo and out of a t/c 28 inch bbl the sst bullet will explode on deer ant close range it will kill but messy spit n drum on here had issues with it at high speed close shots how ever he switched to there gmx bullet in hornaday super performance ammo with much better luck

it is hard for me really to recommend a good factory ammo as i dont shoot none but i have seen the performance of the gmx bullet kimberman could certainly elaborate on it

i think that would be the ammo id use if it shot good

or any ammo loaded with nolser accubond or partition the only BT bullet i like in .284 is the 120 it is bad to the bone

much much better on that 9pt lade hole the size of a bic pen going through not like the pics i sent you of softball sized holes ha ha
 
I have heard alot about the 120 bt, it's all been good.
However my rifle like the 140 bt 1/2 grps, 140 barnes 1/2 grps and have killed very well.
With that said it's all about choice, they all kill!!
 
Too bad you don't handload, the 140 Accubond sitting on top of a max load of IMR4350 clocks around 2975 and absolutely knocked two deer dead on the spot last year. As mentioned, see if you can find some factory with Accubonds. Based on this first hand experience, I am running down my Partition inventory and switching over to Accubonds.
