I agree, the teeth and the deer don't match up. This one needs to have a CA analysis.
 
The last cusp of the back molar is flat rather than concave which is a good indication of at least 3. other than that the jaw looks 2 years old.

I shot a buck a couple years ago that when I had posted trail cam pics of him alive on here everybody thought at least 4 years old. After I shot him the jawbone looked like a young 2 year old. I sent the teeth of to Matsons and they aged him at 3, with a B confidence rating and possible that he could only be 2. I guess I will never know how old that deer was.

If you buck is only 3, than he could have been a well developed yearling in that pick from 2 years ago.
 
Ive never thought of this before and maybe completely thinking wrong,but we look at cows teeth for wear to kinda age it like short short mouth, short mouth,full mouth,etc .but thats just kinda a go by you can have a middle aged cow show like a old cow or vise versa it depends on how they have ate most of there life,like if they have had real short pasture to graze most of there life it will wear there teeth quicker,or if they eat a lot of hard mineral blocks,like I said I maybe completely wrong and trying compare apples to oranges but imo what a deer eats in its life time would effect the wear on its teeth to.

I agree 100 percent. We raise cattle too and I know what you mean. I don't put much faith in aging any animal by the teeth because of that
