Got camp set up enjoying a cold one with 4 lines in the water for carp. Lots of gas for the boat, and my turkey calls, camo and shotgun. Going to be up early to see if anything gobbles within earshot of camp, while fishing for bass before the sun comes up. Then will run somewhere across the lake to try and strike one. Got a few days to hunt and fish here and enjoying it already. Maybe I can find me a tom before the end. Wish me luck

Carp haven't bit yet and haven't heard a gobble yet but found a lot of old scratch and a fresh dust bowl in the woods. First thing this morning I was on my kayak fishing topwater right off the camp and had a bass boat stop out in the creek arm and blow some sort of locator call 2 times and then fired up and drove off. I hooked what felt like a good smallmouth for about 2 seconds and lost it, had another fish explode on my bait right in front of the kayak. I'll probably try some more topwater this evening since I'll be up in the woods early tomorrow morning trying to find a gobble.

I'm in a cove now catching bluegill for bait for my limblines. There are 3 beaver around the bank eating saplings and I can't help but wonder if they would make good cutbait. Lol. And I could try to BBQ some beaver tail. But I don't think I have the heart to shoot one.

The lake looks extra choppy from here. Saw q bass boat head out to the main lake and it disappeared in white spray...probably not gonna hunt today at all, just fish. I ran 1 limb line yesterday evening and had 1 catfish on it this morning. At least something is cooperating. Baited 5 of the lines on my side of the creek but the other side is getting hit by waves so I don't think I'll be running those lines until later. Lol

dang that sucks. I don't doubt it. Wore my pull cord PFD going to the marina this evening. It was still pretty rough for my 13 foot V hull and I got sprayed good but I got back to camp just fine and ran most of my limb lines for the evening. The dang wind picked up right at dark and I had to leave 2 lines empty cause my trolling motor wouldn't keep up anymore. Should be a couple cats waiting when I get back from hunting tomorrow
