I hunt our farm that is about 10 miles away with open fields and woods, but I have 5 acres where I live that borders 500 acres of old bowwater property and the property is leased to a couple of guys so I didnt bother hunting that much here last year. When my sighting got thin on our farm I moved my trail cameras over to my house and low and behold had several bucks that were shooters hanging around and/or making there way to a from a pond that borders our property. I have cut a small patch of woods about 20 yards by 20 yards and was wanting to get it ready for a small plot behind my house. What would you guys recommend for a small plot like this. It is surrounded by old logged property that they bed in that is mega thick, but I have cut enough trees to give ample sun light for some growth. I have put out out throw and grow on our property, but our farm has a lot of natural clover where the open fields meet the wood lines and they pretty much stay deep in that till rut hits so I wasnt too impressed with my plot last year. It grew well but and they did hit it but didnt slam in there like I was expecting. So what would you guys plant for a small food plot in the woods?
