I have a friend who is wanting to sell me his rifle. It is a Weatherby Vanguard 30-06. I think it is a Classic 1, but not sure. THe gun is a early 70s model.

What is the value of the gun? What would be a fair price? Thanks for the help.

The Classic 1 was made from 1989-92 according to the Blue Book of Gun Values. If it was made in the early 70's it more than likely is a Weatherby Vanguard. The Vanguards are worth 435.00=100%, 375.00=98%, 325.00=95%, and 295.00=90%. This is what Blue Book says. Hope this helps.

He said it was a vanguard and weatherby confirmed it was a 70s model.

It absolutely makes a difference. Walnut is more valuable and holds its value better than plastic. Guns shows are overrun with plastic guns
