Help with identifying a gun

Ok my dad has a Remington 700 its a older one i no its over 21 years old i think its a cdl he says bdl its a wood stock it does have the black cap on the end of the stock but not the white line around the black are they any other way to tell witch model it is? I was going to give his gun a make over for his birthday so i am wanting to order a new stock and put some new optics on it for him since he is getting blind lol
Can any body help me out

If it's that old, I'd say its a BDL.Does it have a monte carlo type stock with the raised cheek piece?

Yep it's a BDL if it is that old.

It does have a monte carlo stock and no sights tbe caliber is 243

Pretty desireable rifle right there. It is one of the older Mtn Rifles. If he hunts with it, get the rifle cerakoated in flat black ($200) some talley lightweight rings and a Leupold scope. That would put him in the berries and set you back about $450. If you're set on getting a stock, a McMillan stock in Mtn Rifle pattern with the McWoody color scheme (looks a like a walnut stock but its fiberglass instead) would fit the bill very nicely. I like the stock thats on it now myself though.

Yea the stock thats on it is nice but scratch up pretty bad with years of use thats the only reason was wanting to replace it. As for the optic he keeps complaining about cant see the crosshairs so i boight him to trijicon accupoint if he cant see that then he will have to get glasses lol but as for the stock goes do i look for one for the mountain rifle or what? Thiz will b my first stock replacement so i just want to make sure i order it right the first time

I took a screenshot on what your order will look like if you decide to go this route. you will have to fill it out but you can use this as a guide. I have also included a link to see what the McWoody stocks look like. They are pretty skookum for a Mtn Rifle if you are wanting to keep it traditional looking.

thanks for the help guys thous micmillan stocks sure look nice does anybody have one of the mcwoody stocks was wondering what the weight is?

Refinish the old one. Maybe stain it a different shade to change it up a little.

I thought about refinishing the old stock but i have been doing some reading and the black cap on the end of the stock people was saying makes it really hard to refinish because of the stripper damages it if any gets on it so thats why i just though replace it

After tricking my dad into thinking i was getting me a new stock he liked this one so this is how it turned out his bday is next week so with the new stock and a new trijicon accupoint i think im done hope he likes it all he thinks im doing is cleaning it he has no idea. what do u all think?
