not a pistol guy, but i need one or 2. want to go with a lightweight standard sized 9 and will buy a subcompact 9 as well. i do not like glocks. ugliest clunkiest things i have ever felt. like the look and feel of the ruger s9, smith m and p, the kahr's and the springfields. but i dont know anything about them other than what they look like. any advice would be appreciated. looking for accuracy, thin grip and a good trigger

The Kahrs are known for being ultra thin which is a big deal if concealed carry is your main objective. They have a trigger made to feel like a double action revolver - i.e. a long smooth pull. That's how they allow you to carry a round chambered safely with no safety. I just bought a Kahr PM40 (40S&W) a few weeks back and like it so far. It has a polymer frame and only weighs a bit over 17 ozs. It's tiny and can be carried in your pocket if wearing loose fitting jeans yet has adequate power to stop an attacker if needed. It's slim profile of course costs you in magazine capacity with only 5 in the single-stack magazine and 1 in the chamber but not that long ago, most people carried revolvers and 6 shots was never questioned as being inadequate. And most of the time, you're not going to be in an extended gun fight anyway. Besides, having a gun that is small enough that you actually carry it and have it when trouble happens outweighs having a 15 shot pistol that you leave behind because of it's size and weight most or the time. Yeah, that tiny 40 bucks when you shoot it but remarkably it doesn't sting my hand even the slightest bit.
The Ruger, Springfield and also Keltec 9mm's do however offer significantly more capacity without adding a huge amount of size but they are still too big to easily drop in your pocket day in and day out in my opinion.
I admit that this type gun is not really my cup of tea either. If I am talking handguns, I MUCH prefer a good single action revolver but they don't work too well as a concealed carry gun. :) I'd feel pretty good though facing down trouble with one in my hand once it was drawn and concealment was no longer an issue. A 45 Colt will sure do the job. :)

M&Ps have a good feel, plus you can change out the grips to fit your hand. If you go with the full size M&P, you could get the M&P compact to carry. It is about the same size as a Glock 26. The good thing about having both is the M&P compact can shoot the full size mags, it will extend past the bottom of the grip, but would be a good mag to put in your pocket. The Shield is a single stack, slimmer, lighter M&P compact. I too dislike Glocks, and if its the clunky look and feel of the Glock you dislike, the XD is going to be much of the same. The XD does allow you to change the grip config, plus it has a grip safety much like a 1911. I have owned Glocks, XDs, and M&Ps, and I like the M&P the most of the 3.

I have a Kahr PM9. It's an awesome carry pistol. Super light and thin. It's the easiest carrying pistol I own. I've never had a hiccup out of mine either. I have to get a different holster though. I'm still trying to find a Concealco IWB holster. I currently have a CrossBreed and don't like it. The pistol is not snug and it takes too dang long to put on. I was at Gander Mtn in Knoxville and the Kahr PM9's are selling for $1000+.
I had a P45 and sold it. The grip was too long and no matter how I carried the pistol it would print under my shirt. It shot great though.
Have you looked at an H&K P30 or a P2000SK in 9mm? I love the ergonomics of both of the pistols. I have the P2000SK Version III. I love the ambi safety, ambi mag release, decocker, and DA/SA features. You can also adjust the grip to your liking. It carries very well and it's lightweight.

I carry a cw 9 khar, Bought it mainly because its so easy to conceal. But the more i got to shooting it the more i liked it. Never had a jam no matter what i fed it. My next will be a Khar in a 40 .

I am not a huge pistol person but do have a Smith mp 40, a springfield xd compact 9, and a bunch of other odds and ends. IMO I much prefer the XD to any other polymer that I have or have shot. It was pstol of the year for something like 4 or 5 years and the price is right. The XD and MP have been accurate but if I really want true accuracy I would go with my Kimber 1911 or my Sig 1911. Much easier to customize and play with. My Kimber weighs less than my XD and is easier to conceal.
