Guys there are 9 million versions with 29 million reviews of people going back and forth for an oppinionated mess. I am looking at getting a 30-06 in stainless for an all around good hunting gun. I have around $1000 to spend on the rifle not counting scope and everything else. A friend has a sendero, which is a great gun, but I will be hunting 99.9% of the time with it and many people say its just too heavy to go running through the woods with. I know this topic gets beat to death, but could you guys help me make a decision. Pros and Cons of each. Maybe you guys will shed some light on something I have overlooked with each.
 
You could do the sps but before you shoot it junk the stock and get you a new trigger but after you buy the gun your gonna have another probably close to $400 in stock and trigger and then you need to have the gun bed and floated you gonna have some money it

IMO the 700 BDL Custom Deluxe Walnut stock with real Blueing,not some flat black paint lookin stuff,,is THE Remington rifle,

the CDL and the Mountain Rifle with the regular floor plate,no detachable box mags,,are very nice also,

I think the LSS has a longer barrel,in a 30-06 to be a dedicated deer rifle I would not want anything longer than 22 inches,
 
I have the same one in 300 win mag and love it. Of course, I am never happy with anything that comes straight from the factory so I had a muzzelbreak and a recoil reduction pad installed, had the stock pillar bedded and the action blue printed, and I am planning on having a jewel trigger installed. I have almost 1000 rds thru it and I am thinking of a Hart barrel in a couple of years once I hit about 1500 rds. I may not be able to hit something at 1000 yds with it but somebody else definately could.
 
If I knew I would never be able to go out west and hunt I would by a 25-06, 7-08, or .270, but If for some crazy reason I was able to go then I wanted something that would do all.
 
Ford vs Chevy depends on the Year. Pre 97 goes to Ford, post 97 goes to Chevy. As for women, I am old, fat, and been in too many relationships with bat S##T crazy women who have left me pennyless and in debt, so all I am looking for is semi-sane with lady body parts, and a willingness to eat venison.

Don't rule out the 300 mangums.

My brother used to guide for elk and has killed about 20 of them over the years, all with a .25-06 and most with one shot. He just got another one a couple weeks ago with the same old Ruger heavy barreled varmint rifle.
 
Take a long hard look at Lilja for a new barrel. They are doing some just outstanding work.

Personally, I'd go with a Browning X-bolt, maybe a silver medallion if I was flush. Don't try one out, you'll be hooked. Head and shoulders over the Rems.
