Okay folks,Heres the deal,I have got $520 burning a hole in my wallet,And I need a carry pistol.I take my class next Saturday.I don't need it to take the class,I have my FN 5.7 for that,but I am pretty clueless when it comes to pistols.I want an accurate pistol,because I have had more than 1 pistol that wasn't very accurate.I like to hit what Im aiming at.So what would be the best Carry pistol I could get for the money that I got?
 
I took my class with a .22 Ruger MarkII Competition Target pistol slabside.

Talk about accurate -

Instructor was impressed.

I say all that because it's too late in the game for you to be buying a gun and getting comfortable with it. Use or borrow any gun you are comfortable with-

Buy a good pistol later.

The best thing to do would try as many as you can to see which one you like the best. Coal Creek Armory rents numerous pistols. Go there and try some out. Making a decision after shooting different carry pistols is much easier after feeling the recoil and seeing how well you shoot that particular pistol. The pistol should be something that you are comfortable with and not what someone told you to go buy.
 
I have carried a few different pistols over the years. And the one I liked the best and find most comfortable is the Kahr P9. It is plenty accurate for self defense and easily concealed.

You can get alot of pistols for 5 Benjamins. Depends if you want a wheel gun or a semi auto. Lots of good choices to choose from for a carry gun. Go to a gun store (or several) and fondle a few of them.
 
I'll probly stay with a semi auto.I plan to go to a few gun shops tomorrow before work and see what fits good in the hand.
 
I had a Glock 27 which is the compact .40 that I liked but ended up selling it. For concealment I love the S&W model 642 Airweight in 38+P. That's what I carry and can put it in my pocket and you don't know it's there. It's a short range gun but that's what I bought it for. If I was dead set on a semi-auto I'd look at the Glock again along with the Springfield XD and the S&W M&P.
 
My two favorites in your price range and just a tad less are these two.
You already have an FN so you know what a great gun they are and they come with 3 hi cap mags. $450 at GunBroker

My next favorite carry gun next to my Kimber is the Styer,M40-A1

Tikka,I am currently talking to a guy that has an FNP 9 that he is supposed to let me have it for $450.I ain't heard from him since yesterday evening.
 
You won't be sorry I love mine,so does my wife. I'm afraid if it would fit in her purse I'd lose it.

If you don't hear back from the guy check out GB ,thats where mine came from I think I paid like $439 or $429 new.

Dude, I saw that Steyr pistol at a gun show a couple years ago, and I loved it! If you can, put a picture up of it's sight picture so folks can see how different it is.

BUT....how difficult is it to find a dang holster for that gun?

Not hard I got an Uncle Mikes,they has it the shop where I got it, mine was actully an M-40,but like a netwit I sold it,funny how something waved in your face makes us do stupid things.You did know they were designed by the same guy who designed the Glock,he wanted even a better gun and thats what he came up with. Glock said they were doing fine with what they had an the M-40 wouldn't fly,so he went to Styer. :crazy:

If you get a chance, try the trigger on a Para LDA. It's double-action only, but it's so smooth that you can get it to break like a good single-action semi-auto.
 
I've been looking for a carry gun also. Adam at Top Guns is my nieghbor. He has about talked me into a snub nose revolver. Less likely to jam and less likely to go off by accident. I was dead set on a xd sub compact or taurus millenium pro until i talk to him. Great guy with alot of useful gun knowledge.
If your dead set on a auto check out the nem taurus millenium pros before you spend 500 on something else the new ones are awesome little guns. I've played with glock 26 & 27 and XDs. I like the taurus more than both. I still haven't bought anything though.
